Walk two moons
I would like to share my enthusiasm, knowledge and thoughts about international children's literature and illustration. I am interested in the history of children's literature and especially how it reflects the idea of child in different periods. My critical publications aim to highlight the need for quality in translations to Finnish.
I chose the name Walk Two Moons for my blog because of the fascinating idea behind it. Cheyenne people has a proverb guiding us to empathy:

You can show real empathy only when you step in other person's shoes. Changing the point of view makes things look different. When you read books you put your soul into various fates and get acquainted with even the strangest conditions. Therefore it is wise to bring up children with books. And if we adults want to grow more - let's read children's books!
"Do not judge your neighbour until you walk two moons in his moccasins."Sharon Creech has also used this proverb in her juvenile book with the same title.
